How long does one wax melt cube last?
It depends on your warmer, the size of the cube and the fragrance, but a single cube usually gives you several hours of scent per session and can often be re-melted for more than one session. You'll know it's time to change the wax when you can't smell it anymore even when it's fully melted. The wax doesn't evaporate; the fragrance does. So if the scent is gone, the wax is done.
Why some scents seem stronger than others
Every fragrance oil behaves a little differently. Warm, sweet scents like our bakery + gourmand wax melts tend to fill a room quickly, while lighter fresh + clean scents can feel softer. Room size, airflow and how long you've been in the room all play a part too. After a while your nose gets used to a scent, so stepping outside and coming back in is the best way to check.
5 tips to make your wax melts last longer
- Start small. Try one or two sections before adding more. In a small room, one is often plenty.
- Use a timer or auto shut-off. Running your warmer only when you're home keeps you from burning through fragrance while nobody's there to enjoy it.
- Store unused melts sealed. Keep the clamshell closed and away from heat and sunlight so the fragrance stays strong.
- Clean your warmer between scents. Old wax can muddy a new fragrance. Let the wax cool and pop it out, or wipe the dish while it's warm and soft.
- Match the scent to the room. Save bolder fragrances for open living spaces and lighter ones for bedrooms and bathrooms.
